Release Notes:
Carlin is a unique wine. Blends are rare in Piedmont and Gianmarco Ghisolfi calls Carlin a wine of his fantasies. It is a blend of Nebbiolo (60%) and Freisa (40%). Freisa is a rare ancient Piedmont varietal that has beautiful floral and red fruit flavors. The wine is made with very low yields, and fewer than 350 cases are produced each vintage. The blend is matured in oak barrels and has impressive structure. Its great complexity earned it 2 Bicchieri in the prestigious Gambero Rosso guide to Italian Wines. This is a very special Piedmont wine with personality and a long cellar life thanks to the Nebbiolo. Tasting Notes:Deep violet color with great concentration. Fine aromas of red berries, strawberries and chocolate. Medium-bodied with great fruit. Velvety tannins and a very long finish on fruit make this an extremely pleasant wine. Can be cellared for 3 to 5 years. Ideal with red meats, pork, cheeses, or even alone. An extremely well-made wine. ![]() Carlin's Vineyards near Monteforte d'Alba Winery:Attilio Ghisolfi is an excellent small producer in Montforte d’Alba, one of the 4 villages of Barolo.
