Release Notes:
The devaluation of the dollar makes this wine more expensive, but it is easily worth $40/bottle. Sabatino di Properzio, the owner, has found terrific vines around Spoltore and, with the help of Lucca D'Attona, he has created 2 fantastic wines: Binomio and Spelt. Binomio is now well known in Italy. It also has 2 Bicchieri in Gambero Rosso (Spelt also!). Binomio is the most potent Montepulciano that you will ever taste. It is strong with blackberry fruit, spice and with a potent long finish. This wine can age 7 to 10 years. This wine also spends 15 months in new French barriques. Tasting Notes:Deep and opaque almost black color. Powerful nose of ripe plums, réglisse and leather. Full-bodied with a rich and unctuous texture; strong fruit sensations but at the same time an impression of class and of a vintage much older than 2000. Smooth tannins on the finish; a long finish with fruit and vanillin subtly mixed confirm the impression of a "Grand Vin". Drinks well now, most suitable as accompaniment to big entrées.
