The grapes for this wine are grown on vines more than 25 years old in the regions schist soils. They are harvested by hand, destemmed, crushed and fermented before the Aguardente (a natural distilled alcohol also made from the Douro grapes) is added which stops the fermentation process. Then begins a long aging process 50% in large barrels, 45% in large casks and 5% in 550 liter chestnut casks.
Tasting Notes:
A blond colored wine with fragrances of dried red fruits. In the mouth dry figs, nuts and raisins meld in an elegant combination, creating a sense of freshness, while at the same time of warmth. A long finish. Enjoy with fruit, nut and chocolate desserts, or with flavorful cheeses.
