Release Notes:
Cahors is one of our favorite regions of France’s southwest; it is a very traditional place that has retained its connection with the past while the rest of France has modernized around it. George Vigouroux is one of the leading producers of Cahors, producing fresh wines from the region’s signature grape, Malbec. “Gouleyant” means juicy, and this wine is certainly that with plentiful, ripe black fruit aromas and flavors. A blend of Malbec (80%) softened by the addition of Merlot (20%).
Tasting Notes:
A deep, ruby-purple colored wine that has a beautiful nose of smoke, toast, blackberry and blackcurrant jam aromas. It is very fruity with juicy black fruit flavors complemented by a touch of herbs (sage and rosemary), soft, fresh tannins, and an appealing, long finish. A Cahors that was made to drink young (now through 2009) with game, duck, grilled meats, or on its own at a party.
