Villard Estates Expresión Reserve Chardonnay 2004

 Chile |
|
A complex and nuanced New World Chardonnay from Chile's Casablanca Valley. A big, full-bodied, mouth-filling wine with tropical fruit, vanilla, and toffee flavors.
|
Release Notes:
The Casablanca Valley has been called the Carneros of Chile. Like the fabled wineries at the southern end of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Villard produces rich and opulent Chardonnays. However, Villard’s wines show a more restrained approach to oak aging and are substantially less expensive for the quality they represent than California Chardonnay. This wine was vinified in stainless steel tanks and barrels before half of it was aged in French oak barrels for 9 months.
Tasting Notes:
A medium lemon colored wine with a complex nose of soft tropical fruit, lychee, vanilla, and candied apple aromas. On the palate, this is a big, full-bodied, mouth-filling wine. Pineapple, peach, and lychee fruit flavors are married with a touch of vanilla, toffee, and oak on the finish. Great as an aperitif or with salads, seafood, poultry, and goat cheese. Drink now to 2009.
