Release Notes:
David Wordsworth is no stranger to Australian agriculture after a career as a rancher and politician representing this region in the state parliament. A decade ago, Wordsworth planted a vineyard, built a beautiful winery and tasting room, and, very quickly, began producing fantastic wines. Tim Mortimer, Wordsworth’s winemaker
uses very advanced New World techniques. To develop this beautiful wine, a portion was fermented in new French oak barrels and left to mature on the lees for 10 months. The rest was fermented very cold over six weeks, stressing the yeasts and producing distinctive characteristics including some residual sugar. After barrel aging, the wine was rounded with a small amount of
Chardonnay (12%) to add depth.
Tasting Notes:
A medium straw colored wine with a dense nose of quince, peach, minerals, and a touch of oak. On the palate, this wine has a gentle, round attack of tropical fruit and vanillin flavors. This Chenin Blanc has a touch of sweetness coupled with balanced acidity leading up to the extremely long and complex finish. A very well-made wine, like so many Chenin Blancs, it can age for a decade or more. A great food wine, serve with ham, curry, pasta dishes, or spicy, exotic cuisines.

Geographe is becoming a very important winegrowing region in Western Australia. It is just north of the Margaret River region and benefits from the same plentiful sunshine and cool breezes off of the Indian ocean. Its French name reminds us that this part of Australia was first mapped by a French expedition in 1793.
